The typical basis of value is ‘Market Value’ as defined by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) Valuation – Professional Standards, otherwise known as the ‘Red Book’. A so-called Red Book valuation is the gold standard of valuation work and can only be carried out by a qualified and registered Chartered Surveyor. We are bound by the standards set out in the Red Book which contains official RICS practice statements and guidance notes.
